What are Nail Treatments?

A manicure or pedicure are beauty treatment for your hands & feet and nails. A manicurist or pedicurist will use a variety of tools, creams, oils, waxes and massage techniques to clean and shape your nails, care for your cuticles, and generally improve the look and feel of your hands and feet. These treatments should also improve the texture and health of both the nails and the skin of your hands & feet, as well as leaving them looking polished and perfect.

What is this course?

This qualification will develop the knowledge, skills and competencies that learners need to work as a manicurist or pedicurist in a beauty salon and is the minimum standard required to work effectively. This qualification enables candidates to provide treatments for relaxation and improving the condition and appearance of the skin and nails on the hands and feet.

 

Who is this course suitable for?

This course is suitable for those wishing to qualify as a professional nail technician and gain insurance to work in any of the many job opportinuties which are available in high street salons, beauty clinics, health spas, hotels, cruise ships or alternatively, those wishing to be self-employed; choosing either to work from home or visit clients in their own homes.

How will I be assessed?

Each candidate is required to undertake a number of case studies over a period mainly at home and to complete assignments and project work. Internal assessment involves tests, assignments and practical observations to cover a range of clients and assignments to check knowledge. The course will involve assessment in both practical and theoretical areas. Written work is done via workbook and a practical sampling assessment will be done as both in class formative & summative (exam) examination.
