What is Sports Massage?

Sports Massage includes pre-event, post-event, maintenance and rehabilitation techniques that promote greater athletic endurance and performance, reduced chances of injury and faster healing.  This type of massage is effective for people with injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion. It is also a good preventative against injury.

Sports Massage uses a variety of advanced techniques including classic massage strokes, cross-fibre friction, soft tissue release, muscle energy technique, neuro muscular technique and soft tissue mobilization. The massage works deep to eliminate toxins embedded in muscle fibres, remove adhesions, and minimize scar tissue build up. Muscle lengthening techniques help to restore a range of motion and overall flexibility and this massage also leads to improved circulation which aids better cell nutrition, greater elasticity of muscle fibre, and reduced recovery time.

Who will benefit from this course?

The overall aim of this course is to develop knowledge and understanding of muscular- skeletal injuries and conditions and learn all the relevant skills to provide sports massage in all environments, including for chronic pain. So those who want to work in a sports environment or with professional or amateur athletes independently will benefit from this course, in addition to those therapists who wish to learn new skills for treating clients with injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion; skills can therefore be combined with existing therapies to widen scope of treatment and also treating new types of clients.

This course is attained in 6 months. Duration: 9.5 days or 14 evenings plus session in sports facility/sports event during course. Daytime 10am - 4.30pm or Evening 6-9pm.
