What is Full Body Massage?

Swedish massage is the most commonly offered and best-known type of massage. A massage therapist will use massage oils or talc to facilitate smooth, gliding strokes. Swedish massage is a full body massage covering the arms, legs, shoulders, neck, face, abdomen and back. Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, improve circulation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits. Massage techniques include effleurage, friction, kneading, wringing and percussion.

Typically a Swedish massage treatment will take 60 mins including a consultation; the client will lie on a massage couch/table wearing their underwear covered by a towel & blanket. The therapist will uncover only the part of the body they are working on to maintain dignity at all times. Swedish massage is the foundation for other types of western massage, including sports massage, deep tissue massage and aromatherapy massage.

Who is this course suitable for?

This course is suitable for those wishing to qualify as a professional therapist but also for those who have a genuine interest in taking the basic understanding of Swedish Massage further. This particular qualification is the 'cornerstone' for massage therapies as it forms the entry requirement for many advanced courses such as Hot Stone Massage, Sports Massage, On-Site Massage, Advanced Massage and many one day workshops. It is therefore the ideal course to do if you are new to massage therapy.

This qualification can easily be attained within 3-6 months.
