What is Advanced Body Massage?Advanced Massage is a more vigorous form of massage than that used in Aromatherapy and basic Swedish Massage, however, it is less firm than Sports and Remedial Massage. Advanced Swedish Massage has its roots in Eastern Medicine and is particularly recognised for its ability to provide deep tissue and muscle relaxation and assist with joint mobility. Practitioners use a combination of gentle flowing massage along with friction, kneading, percussion and stimulation of pressure points, as well as stretching and joint manipulation.
Who is this course suitable for?This course is designed to meet the needs of individuals already practicing Swedish body massage who wish to take their studies to another level. It covers both the theoretical and the practical aspects of advanced massage techniques, including Lymphatic Drainage, Neuromuscular Techniques, Deep Tissue work and Soft Tissue Release as well and basic postural analysis and breathing and relaxation exercises. This course is an advanced massage course and follows on from the Level 3 Certificate in Swedish Massage. Course dates 2010 & 2011This course can be attained within 2-4 months. What does the course include?
How will I be assessed?Continuous assessment by means of written homework, assignments and home practice in the form of case studies. Internal assessment involves tests and practical observations. The course culminates in a final examination involving a practical observation of the therapy on a client of your choice. Entry qualifications
