Learn the creme de la creme of massages! Focusing on the deeper layers of muscle tissue, the aim of a Deep Tissue massage is to release chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep pressure on the contracted areas (using thumbs, hands, forearms, knuckles or elbows). This massage is focused, detailed, nuanced and deep where necessary. This two day course will allow you to take your massage skills to a whole new level and your clients will love you for it.
What will you learn on the course?
Why “No pain, no gain!” is NOT true!
Many people mistakenly believe that the deeper the pressure, the more painful the treatment – and the more painful the treatment the more effective it will be. In fact it is important for the client not to be caused discomfort above their own threshold as this would be counter-productive to the massage. In this course you will learn how to combine a deep, sustained pressure with sensitivity and awareness to encourage muscles (and the client) to relax. The aim is to achieve effective release with the minimum of discomfort. The massage should be a “dialogue” between the therapist and the client’s body. You will learn how to persuade the body to let go, not batter it into submission!
This is a newly developed and expanded course. It covers ways of approaching a Deep Tissue massage but as an advanced massage course it incorporates many more remedial techniques. During the two days we will cover Neuromuscular Technique (NMT) and Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy [TPT], as well as how to work with different types of muscle tension. We will also look at ways of working to reduce strain on the therapist – Hands-Free techniques.
If you are growing bored with your current massage, if you want to be the absolute best massage therapist you can be – If you feel you’d like to know how to create a remedial style massage, whilst still keeping it relaxing, holistic and enjoyable to give and receive – then this course is for you!
On Day One we will look at ways of applying Deep Tissue Massage techniques to the back and shoulders.
On Day Two we will incorporate these techniques to the legs, glutes and neck.
